5,000 by 2020

2019 was an incredible year for Girls Health Ed. After reaching a major milestone of serving more than 3,000 girls and young women across multiple cities in the US and Kenya, the demand for our program has grown tremendously. In order to ensure we won’t have to turn away the thousands of girls who need comprehensive health education in their schools and communities, we need to expand and develop more domestic and global partnerships to multiply our impact.

Earlier this year, we have solidified and launched new community partnerships in New Orleans, Los Angeles, and even in the Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh. We are thrilled to be expanding to new areas to be able to meet the health and educational needs of girls.

Now, our next goal is to impact the lives of 5,000 girls by the end of 2020. We have the partnerships, but now we need your help in making these efforts successful. As we enter into the final quarter of the year, we hope to give one large push toward meeting our goal. 5,000 by 2020 is a 24-hour effort to raise $15,000 that will be used toward the resources, supplies and transport needed to fulfill our workshops here at home and around the globe.

We were proud that we played a role in helping girls secure a more promising future for themselves. The promise of an empowered, informed life, tools to stay engaged in school during and after puberty, to learn how to manage their periods, have healthy relationships, prevent unintended pregnancy, HIV transmission and more. At a time where there are as many as 98 million girls out of school, our work is as critical as ever.

About Girls Health Ed:

Our mission is to empower girls worldwide to make healthy and informed choices. We do this through a workshop-based program with five modules covering the full spectrum of health education. Our modules are nutrition, body image, physical activity, personal care and hygiene, and reproductive health. By focusing on girls and young women who are not able to obtain information about their changing bodies from their school or home environments, we instill confidence through knowledge and ensure that girls walk away with a valuable reference they are able to use throughout their adult lives. We use health education to maximize the positive impact that girls and young women are able to have on their communities and empower them to change their lives for the better.
